"Robin's Ward and Neurology team"

About: John Radcliffe Hospital / Neurosurgery John Radcliffe Hospital / Paediatric surgery

(as a parent/guardian),

My son was recently admitted to the care of the Neurology Team and Robin's Ward after a bicycle accident.  We had an extremely nerve wracking few days but I cannot find enough superlatives to describe the extremely high quality of both care and personnel we experienced.

Every single person we encountered was friendly, patient and willing to give of their time despite clearly being extremely busy people.  Whether it was the nursing team or the doctors and consultants people took the time to explain what was going on to both my son and us as his parents.

My son was extremely anxious about his surgery and even had to be taken back to the ward after refusing anaesthetic.  The team tried, reviewed and then came up with an alternate plan despite it impacting their time and no doubt their other work.  I was particularly impressed by the focus on ensuring my son did not have any ongoing concerns that might affect his ability to accept care in the future.

We were lucky to be discharged after a few days and I know many people aren't so lucky.  Whatever the situation, I have no doubt the extended team at the John Radcliffe will do their absolute best to make the experience as OK as they can do in those circumstances.
My heartfelt thanks goes out to every person involved - you do a truly excellent job of which I am in awe.
