"Littlebrook set an example for other mental..."

I was admitted to the Amberwood ward at Littlebrook Hospital earlier this year. It was not my first experience of this mental health hospital. I had previously been admitted to the Willow ward at Littlebrook. In the past I have also been in other mental health hospitals away from Littlebrook. I can honestly say that Littlebrook is by far and above the best mental health hospital that I have had experience of. There is a good ratio of staff to patients and the facilities are as homely as possible given the environment. Every member of the team deserves to be recognised for the excellent job that they are doing to help people such as myself when we are less well. I have been discharged now for some months and most days I still think of the wonderful staff and rather miss them. They are very caring and fair and treat all patients respectfully, including those who are more difficult to deal with. There are various therapeutic activities organised for patients which are led by a wonderful team of occupational therapists who also deserve praise. A chaplain is also available to provide spiritual support regardless of one’s faith. What impresses me most about the many staff at Littlebrook is that they are all so conscientious and have such a positive attitude towards their work and the patients who they are looking after. The staff morale appeared to be very good which suggests that Littlebrook is a motivating place to work. The meals were served very efficiently which meant that no-one had to wait long for their food. Hospital food can get criticised but my view is that the food at Littlebrook is very good indeed with vegetarian options and sensible portion sizes. There is no doubt in my mind that my recovery was largely due to the supervision and caring attitude of the staff including nurses, office personnel, doctors, cleaners, psychologists, the aforementioned occupational therapists, ward managers, receptionists, et al. Thank you to everyone at Littlebrook- myself and many others will always be grateful for your help.
