After unexpectedly arriving on this ward from A+E I was extremely anxious and distressed. Despite the staff being super busy and overworked they were very reassuring and lovely. They all seemed really genuine and I didn't see any condescending or patronising attitudes, which I have seen elsewhere. They made my short but traumatic stay more bearable and were very very good with other patients including a lady who died opposite me. It was the middle of the night and they were lovely and calming with her in her last moments. Genuine people, not just putting on a show for others.
Sad to say one person let the team down, who seemed a bit moody, very unfriendly and didn't smile once, May have been a bad day! As a patient we know the job is difficult but it really makes a difference and less work for you if you are just nice! My hats go off to the ladies on D1 who looked after me and everyone around me despite some horrible situations and me being on a very eventful, noisy and traumatic sub-ward.
The doctors who saw me in both A+E and on the ward were also amazing and the ladies from CT and MRI scans too! Great hospital
