I have been trying, from a distance for a long time, to support my brother access mental health, drug and addiction services in the NHS and privately. It has been a frustrating and dehumanising experience and my brother’s condition is worsening. Today was a bad day, culminating in him presenting to Chelsea and Westminster A& E. Although he couldn’t be admitted, I was called by a wonderful psychiatric liaison nurse, called David, who took the care and time to explain and get to the bottom of the situation. He also clearly cared and looked out for my brother, going above and beyond the call of duty to ensure he was not let go into the streets, alone. There is a long road ahead for my brother, but dealing with David has restored (some) of my faith in the system and given us a bit more resilience to carry on dealing with the situation. Thank you David.
