"My Grandads Care"

About: Kilbryde Hospice / Inpatient Care

(as a relative),

My grandad, Daniel, was a resident of room number 9 for the past 8 weeks In the Kilbride Hospice. During this time he was looked after by the most wonderful team of nurses, support workers, volunteers etc.

When I first found out he was going into a hospice I remember being quite scared to visit  as I knew this would lead to end of life care, but this place and all the people I met through his journey has been a place which will stay in my heart forever. You have all individually made his last weeks so much more manageable and he would praise you all and the work you do constantly to me and my family. I am so so grateful for every chat, smile, joke and comforting presence during this difficult time for us all. You are all angels, thank you for everything.

May I take this opportunity to thank you for taking the time to provide such lovely positive feedback.

Feeling scared is a normal reaction to attending a hospice however it is reassuring to hear that the staff within Kilbryde made it more manageable and comfortable through their chats, smiles and jokes and ensured the time you spent with your Grandad was enjoyable and memorable.

As the Deputy Clinical Lead for the In-Patient Unit, it is a privilege to receive such encouraging feedback about the whole team who supported you and your family through this very difficult time. I will be sure to comminucate your thanks to all staff involved.

Your Grandad was an inspiring gentleman and we all took pleasure in his love for music, especially his guitar.

With many thanks,

Rosie
