"38 years old and suffered with sciatica for 7..."

About: Northern General Hospital / Pain Management

Well where to start!! In all honesty I'm quiet disgusted with the NHS as a whole I'm 38 years old having suffered with sciatica for 7 years today I was referred back to the pain clinic and what a waste of time it was... A consultant sat in his chair and told me there's no significant changes to my MRI which would cause me to need surgery... Let me explain I have trouble walking.. I rarely leave my house and I'm a parent.. I have other people taking and picking up my kids from school and me well let's say I constantly sit at home crying in pain and at the thought of spending another year like this... I'm not the emotional type at least not in public but today the tears flowed when I was told I will be added to the pain group whatever that is and given Co codamol to relieve my pain, I mean come on Co codamol I also have osteoarthritis in my spine and both knees.... Thing is if i was 68 they'd have done more... Time to treat who need treating not just the age group its a complete joke well all pay tax but for what I certainly don't see why I should when I get no help with my pain.

I was very sorry to read your post and learn that you are in a lot of pain which has been on-going for several years andthat you feel that your condition is not treated seriously because of your age group.

I have also noted that you have queried what the Pain Group is. If you wish for us to provide you with more information or you wish to raise concerns formally about the way your case has been dealt with, please could you contact our Patient Services Team by telephoning 0114 271 2400 or by emailing them at pst@sth.nhs.uk and we will be able to look into matters for you.

Kind regards.
