"44 yrs of RNOH care review update from today's..."

About: The Royal National Orthopaedic Hospital (Stanmore) / Trauma and orthopaedics

Being due to the RNOH today (24/7/19) and upsettingly having read contrasting "poor" reviews of RNOH compared to my witness accounts, I decided to give a review yesterday of my experience over the past 44yrs, but in fairness I hadn't visited since 2014 so I might have been out of touch if things were now poor.

So being due there today for an outpatient check up (last one was 2014) I thought this was perfect to give a 5yrs on comparative update.

I would point out that I thought my hip was replaced 8yrs ago (as mentioned in previous review) after today's visit I realise it was actually 11 years!! and the metal on metal hips from America at the time of my replacement I believe were NOT ones used by RNOH, but RNOH were reacting to the risk of 'Metal on Metal' not that theirs at the time had failed, so metal on metal hips were sensibly being monitored.

Back to today's visit, admittedly parking historically was typical hospital, always a struggle, but today plenty of spaces no problem, and FREE!!

I checked with a friendly attendant who said it was currently free but may change in the future. Just then another friendly fella arrived on an electric golf type buggy asking if I required a lift anywhere?

I thanked him and said I can walk, leave it for someone less able bodied.

I arrived at reception met by friendly lad, booked me in advised where X-Ray was and I went to X-Ray.

The older ladies on reception were adorable, polite & friendly even when a foreign lady spilt water from the cooler they cleaned the mess for her without fuss.

Young lad doing the X-Ray perfect manners, swift excellent.

Walking back to the consultation waiting room the corridors were clean and well identified (albeit still the old buildings but internally clean and tidy).

Met the consultants nurse (who was wonderful) who ran through my case and since no issues no need to see Consultant or waste his time.

She gave me advice about blood test, the testing what, where and why, the follow up procedure if clear or further tests needed, and I was then escorted to get the blood test.

A young lady took my blood sample who was cheerful polite and friendly....job done!

Can't be faulted.

The outside temp was 30 degrees plus, new air conditioning was being installed but wasn't ready so hats off to the teams working in that heat.

There was mobile aircon trying its best to take the temp down a degree of two.

So my review for today remains 5 STARS.

These guys and girls are doing an incredible job, remain upbeat and friendly and are constantly busy!!!! Seriously busy!! but whatever the demands of others you felt you had their full attention.

Even looking around and observing other patients were getting same respect and treatment.

My biggest only gripe was the ignorant patients that still IGNORE THE TURN OF PHONES signs.

Majority were taking calls (LOUDLY) pinging, ringing, bing bong....so disrespectful.

So keep doing what you are doing RNOH, you are the jewel in the NHS crown!!

Thank you again for taking the time to write a another wonderful review of the RNOH.

Our team of clinicians and backroom staff work very hard to ensure our patients have first class treatment. I will forward your compliments to X-ray team and Outpatients reception who will be grateful to receive your message. Much appreciated.
