"A Disappointing Admittance and stay"

About: Royal Free London NHS Foundation Trust

A long, long wait just to get into the A and E after arrival by ambulance. Some staff seemed to be working at the slowest speed possible making the wit all the longer. My particular issue had already been diagnosed by a consultant at that hospital but whose notes did not seem to be available to the junior doctors who came along to see me. No informa=tion about my condition at the time was passed on to me - I felt like I was just a body to be put through the motions. It would have been nice to have been offered something like water - my condition meant that I was losing fluid.

I was so glad to be moved out of that department. My experience on the ward was, unfortunately, not much better. There were some people who were more ill than me and I understood that they would receive more attention. However, being a quiet patient meant that I was totally ignored most days - I had to eventually complain after 6 days that my sheets had not been changed for those 6 days. It just seemed that the quieter you were the worse care you got. Levels of real care varied greatly on that ward. Some nurses were bossy and never listened to \nything I had to say. I dreaded those nurses coming on duty. Those same people would also change my dressings - with no care at all for the pain they caused. . It took a student nurse to one day rermove my dressings with no pain whatsoever. My experience in that hospital was not pleasant and I would not recommend it..
