"The 'urgent' waiting list is 8 weeks"

About: Solihull Hospital / Ophthalmology

(as a service user),

Following routine eye test due to severe headaches,  I was an urgent referral to ophthalmology at Solihull Hospital who confirmed that I had papilledema and referred me for an urgent scan. The scan revealed I had intracranial hypertension.

Ophthalmology have requested an 'urgent' referral to neurology and are monitoring my sight as I am at risk of permanent sight loss in my right eye.

In the meantime my symptoms are getting worse.  Its affecting my work and I constantly feel ill. Pain killers do not help.

I have found out today that the 'urgent' waiting list is 8 weeks.  Bit of a contradiction in terms! Hardly urgent!
