Having never been into hospital for an operation, it was with trepidation I entered the admissions lounge at 0700.Immediately greeted by warm staff, eager to please and keeping me informed of what would be happening. Professional and courteous throughout. As I was delayed for 25 minutes awaiting anasthetic I was anxious. However, one particular lady put me at ease throughout with her reassuring manner. Upon being taken to the ward I was assisted by so many nurses, all keen and approachable. Constant attendance without being overpowering. The next day I was ably assisted in being able to get a wash. Much appreciated. Makes me proud to have an NHS. Only problem was being woken by squaking gulls and planes from Southend Airport, but that is outwith hospital control. Having waited 10 months for the operation it was worth it eventually.
"First time for operation in hospital."
