"The care my wife received"

About: Macmillan specialist palliative care pharmacist service

(as a relative),

In June this year my darling wife lost her five year battle with cancer and passed away peacefully in her sleep.

I feel that it would be wrong of me not to praise the wonderful care she received in her final few weeks.   When she left hospital to return home  I was told that a care plan had been put in place so as to ensure that I had all the help I needed to care for her at home..  I had no idea what to expect and was therefore completely overwhelmed by the amount of care she  received from the City Health Partnership, East Riding Social Services and the MacMillan nurses during their time with us. I cannot heap sufficient praise upon all the carers, nurses and night sitters who assisted me during that time.   They provided not only all the practical help that was required each day, but also showed a level of care and compassion which went way beyond simply "doing a job".     All of them became our friends and shared in my grief when my wife finally succumbed to her illness.   I thank each and every one of you for all you did for us.
