I recently gave birth at Southmead and had the most positive and incredible experience.
I was admitted by my midwife at 38 weeks due to complications which meant I had to be induced, and on beginning the induction process found I had further issues. All the medical staff in the asssesment unit we came into contact with (midwife, consultants, doctors and anaesthetists) were so supportive and encouraging, and just wanted to do the best for us. We had to make some difficult decisions at this stage and they explained all our options very carefully, and made sure we had time and space to think about it without any pressure.Once we were moved to the delivery suite we had the most incredible 2 midwives over the course of the labour - both were absolutely professional in everything they did but yet also very friendly and made me feel so relaxed and most importantly gave me the confidence I needed for giving birth!
We could not fault any of the care and help we received from all the midwives and consultants who looked after me during labour and also once our baby was born - we really felt like our experience mattered to them and they wanted to impact it positively which they certainly did!
