I visited Aylesbury eye clinic in May for suspected CRVO and was referred urgently to Milton Keynes who apparently never got the letter. - ok not there fault, but luckily I had been sent a copy of the letter which had urgent written on it! When I phoned MK however, and explained they offered me an appt. in August and then phoned back within a few minutes to say it had been given to someone else and there were no other appts available until the new list came out - she didn’t know when this would be. Meanwhile she suggested that I phoned up every day in case of a cancellation - no they won’t phone me!
I tried also phoning the urgent eye care centre and they just said to phone up the hub again. - ok again they hadn’t received the letter. At this point I felt desperate as even my GP didn’t want to know as it had been the optician who had initially referred me so in the end I paid privately to see one of the consultants who was quite shocked about this and was able to get me seen urgently at the hospital that week. Once I was being seen, the consultants and staff were really great - and although my treatment will be ongoing I would give them 5 stars.
