I was admitted for minor surgery and was mainly looked after by a first year student children’s nurse on her adult placement. The whole team were fab throughout my day case, but she really stood out. Rachael was bubbly and outgoing from my admission, taking me down to theatre and staying with me until I went for anaesthetic then once back on the ward. Absolutely nothing was too much trouble, she has possibly the best person centred care I have seen in a long time and she anticipated my needs meaning I was never in pain, I had everything I needed to hand and she left me to sleep when that was needed too.
I must also mention the nurse in theatre and anaesthetic room. I am so sorry I didn’t get your name but you were amazing when I was extremely worried and scared. Your caring attitude and friendly face is all I remember as I drifted off to sleep.
As a healthcare worker it is scary being on the “other side” and these two nurses made it a much better experience. They really are examples of superb nursing care
