"Mum s hospital visit from home visit from ANP to hospital admission and discharge."

About: Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Medical Initial Assessment Aberdeen Royal Infirmary / Acute Short Stay Medicine General Practices in Grampian Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as a relative),

My mum took very unwell at home 2 weeks ago and I had to phone An Caorann Medical Practice to arrange a home visit for her. The receptionist was so helpful and escalated my request very quickly phoning me back to keep me updated of the progress. The Nurse Practitioner Dianne arrived who assessed my mum and quickly realised she was septic and needed urgent attention. She organised an ambulance from Fraserburgh and stayed with us until it arrived which resulted in he working late. She put us all at ease and was so amazing at looking after my mum, a brilliant professional nurse! ! ! The ambulance crew very efficiently took her to ward 101 ARI where speedy intervention was carried out. She was then transferred to ward 103 the next morning where she was looked after by an amazing team. Her main nurses were s/n Jen stn/n Amy (on days) and I think s/n Ellie (on nights). These nurse are named as they looked after my mum so well however, everyone my mum met was so helpful and caring. I can not thank all these members of staff enough for aiding my mums recovery.

Hi Maz s,

Thank you for taking the time to get in touch through Care Opinion.

I was sorry to read about your Mum having fallen unwell 2 weeks ago. It must have been a worrying time for the family.

It really sounds as though time was of the essence, and the quick recognition and escalation by the Nurse Practitioner Dianne initiated great teamwork through the system by the practice, ambulance and hospital response to ensure that your Mum received the care and compassion she needed.

I am delighted that the ambulance crew played their part in providing reassuring care and a speedy and efficient journey to ARI.

I do hope your Mum has made a good recovery!

I would like to pass on your feedback to our crew. Therefore, it would be great if you could contact our admin team on 01224 812200 to pass on further detail so we can identify the crew who helped your Mum?

Take care.

Euan..

Update posted by Maz s (a relative)

Thank you Euan she is doing so much better now. I have just phoned and left details with the number you supplied above. Thank you again. My mum has updated me that the s/n on night shift was Nicole not Ellie. I apologies for getting the name wrong.

Dear Maz,

Thank for you sharing you and your mums experiences - it's great to hear how the quick action taken by the friendly staff at An Caorann made a stressful time much easier. I'm so glad to hear your mum is on the mend.

I have passed on your story to Catherine, Office Manager at Ann Caorann Medical Practice - her response is noted below:

Thank you very much for taking the time to give us such positive feedback. I've spoken to Diane and she's very appreciative of the comments and glad you are happy with the care your mum received.

I will pass this to all our staff here as it's lovely when someone lets us know they appreciate what we do.

Best wishes,

Catherine
