"Supported recovery through Peri-natal services"

About: Nottinghamshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust / Perinatal – Community

(as the patient),

When I first met Liz I was really struggling after the birth of my second baby due to a number of family and health issues which triggered another episode of post-partum anxiety and post-partum depression (I had gone through a similar experience after my first child).

Over the past six months Liz has incredibly supportive and insightful. With her guidance I feel significantly more confident as a Mum of two and my anxiety and depression symptoms have reduced enormously.
Everything about my treatment from Liz was great, I never felt rushed when I met with her, she listened intently to me even when I could only manage an incoherent jumble of words and she has provided some techniques such as VIG which helped me view my relationship with my children from a different perspective.
Liz is absolutely brilliant at her job and although we did not meet under pleasant circumstances I have really enjoyed working on my recovery with her.
Thank you Liz, you are a star.

Dear marsjz85,

We agree, Liz is a star!

Thank you so much for getting in touch and letting us know that you had such a positive experience working with Liz when you were under the care of this Team.

Feedback like this is really important to us. It helps to reassure other mums that may be struggling, that accessing help can be a positive experience. It shows that women with mental health problems in the perinatal period really do achieve recovery.

As a Team, we love to hear from women that we have worked with. Obviously for the positive feedback, as that shows we are getting it right, but also if there is something we could do better.

I wish you well in the future and I will pass on your kind words to Liz. I am sure she will also want me to thank you.

Best wishes,

Lisa Carter

Team Leader, Community Perinatal Psychiatry
