"Epitome of care in a homely setting"

About: Parkdale

(as a service user),

Mum was a long-term resident in high-performing council-run residential home (which had been under threat of closure last year)

Mum’s condition deteriorated and it became clear that her needs had changed from supportive everyday care to end-of-life. Her needs were at the centre of every decision. Many different HCP roles were involved as the epitome of facilitating care in a homely setting swung into action. We are grateful that Mum was able to be cared for, in what had become her home, with enormous skill, kindness and compassion, by the people who had looked after her for the last 5 years. She was surrounded by her family - children, grandchildren, great grandchildren & the dog (!) Her passing while intensely sad was pain-free, serene and dignified. We also felt cared-for
