I attended A&E with my young daughter yesterday (27th of June) early afternoon and was sent to minor injuries. Within a few minutes of arrival a triage nurse (I think) appeared (around 2 pm) she looked at my (not obviously) injured 1 year old in the waiting area and told me that she looks fine and that her bones aren't "filigree" (her words) and to just give her Calpol. I replied not in favour of this advice and insisted on staying to which she said "I will ask the clinician then if it's really necessary!" and off she went. A few hours later a small fracture was proven via x-ray. If I would have followed her advice and masked my child's pain my daughter could have injured herself even more seriously, the very kind doctor explained the bones at her age are indeed very soft and she suffered a greenstick fracture, apparently typical for soft children's bones. I would also like to give very positive feedback on the doctor who had just taken over his shift - he was ever so friendly, helpful and so reassuring to trust one's instinct.
"Negative and positive feedback"
