"Mixed experience with paramedics"

About: Royal Alexandra Hospital / Accident & Emergency Royal Alexandra Hospital / General Medicine (wards 8, 10, 11, 14, 18 & 27) Scottish Ambulance Service / Emergency Ambulance

(as the patient),

I was advised to call for an ambulance due to me falling and unable to walk due to infection in my knee. On arrival I couldn't not fault one of the paramedics who was very conciderit due to my falling. But I felt the other paramedic was very bossy made me out to be stupid and due to me falling said I didn't need a chair to get down I then fell on the street as I couldn't get my foot up onto the step I just felt upset that I wasn't getting help I needed and felt a burden.

On the plus side I just want to thank all the A & E staff for the excellent care received nothing was a bother to ask staff questions . I also want to thank the staff of the Accute medical ward at RAH for the excellent care given from being admitted to the ward .

Dear Waterloo,

Firstly, thank you very much for taking the time to share your feedback here on CareOpinion. I am very sorry to read about your fall and I do hope that you are now on the road to a full recovery.

I am also pleased to read about the positive feedback you have written about the staff that attended you including the staff at the hospital and a member of our crew. As health professionals being caring and considerate is obviously of the utmost of importance. I am however quite disappointed to read that you feel that the other crew member did not provide you with that same feeling.

If you would like, we can have this looked into for you and pass on your feedback. It may well be they were unaware of how they were being perceived and it could be a learning point used to improve future practice. If you would like for this to happen, may I ask that you email me at alan.martin2@nhs.net. If you could also quote your careopinion username for my own reference that would be really helpful.

Kind Regards

Alan
