"My medication in pregnancy was mismanaged"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Gynaecology

(as the patient),

I went to A&E after suffering complications in pregnancy due to a blood condition.

The doctor made the decision to withdraw all my medication which prevented my blood from clotting, and which was keeping baby alive. They did not do blood tests to confirm that blood was too thin etc and did not perform scan.

They admitted me to a ward where I was left for three days without seeing a doctor. No tests were performed. I started to lose a lot of blood and had a student nurse who started flapping her arms about and asked me what she had to do.

I saw a doctor eventually, after I complained, and eventually had a scan which confirmed that my baby had died. The dates confirmed that the death occurred after withdrawal of medication. I had bruising up my arm from blood pressure equipment that wasn't working properly. I had infection in a vein from the cannula and no one has so far been able to answer why i was taken off medication.

I have been told that I was mismanaged since my arrival in A&E, and that there are no excuses for the way I have been treated. I feel my baby died because of their lack of monitoring and care, and withdrawal of essential medication.
