I was referred to the Corneo unit of the hospital because my right bottom eyelid had turned inwards and was seen by the Corneo Plastic Consultant who told me that i needed a minor surgical procedure to correct the problem.
The consultant explained clearly what was involved and that the procedure needed to be done reasonably urgently.
Following the consultation I was sent for pre assessment which involved a number of tests and also photographs being taken of my eye.
All the personnel who did the tests put me at my ease and explained what was happening and what they wanted me to do.
A week or so later I was given a date for my operation and sent clear instructions for what I needed to do on the day.
When i arrived I was seen by the anaesthetist and the surgeon both of whom put me at my ease and explained clearly what was going to be done to me. All the people I met on the day were focussed on me and I had the sense that I was being treated by a highly efficient team that was determined to give me the best possible care.
The operation went to plan and prior to being discharged I was given clear instructions about what i needed to do during my recovery .
I can't praise the hospital highly enough not just for the excellence of the treatment but for the humanity of the staff.
This is the NHS at its very best and my heartfelt thanks to all concerned.
