"Made to feel I was wasting their time"

About: Borders General Hospital / Accident & Emergency

(as the patient),

Last time I attended the A&E department at the Borders General Hospital I was made to feel by the nurse in the triage room that my pain and head injury was my imagination and that I was wasting their time. I have suffered a head injury recently and because of the treatment I received I have been reluctant to go to the hospital to get it checked. I suffer from hydrocephalus and hit the area where my VP shunt is situated.

Dear Bill82

I am very sorry to hear that when you attended the Emergency Department at Borders General Hospital you were made to feel that you were wasting the staff's time.

This is not the experience we would want our patients to have and I would appreciate the opportunity to look into this further for you. Can you please contact me on (01896) 827202 or via email on karen.maitland@borders.scot.nhs.uk in order for me to gather some more information from you to allow this to be investigated accordingly.

Thanks,

Karen
