I ordered a repeat prescription of my necessary medication 8 days ago. I sent it with all the necessary information to the correct email address: lewccg.g85024-general@nhs.net. I had no confirmation and then phoned up today to ask about it. I was first told no email had been received, then after more checking that an email had been received but was ignored because apparently it was 'too soon', meaning in effect that my request was ignored. However, I had received no previous instruction that I was not allowed to send the email a week before running out of my pills. It would obviously have been useful to know this so as to avoid the risk of running out of pills and getting ill as a result. I was only told today that emails can only be sent a couple of days before running out. After being on the phone for 25 minutes I was finally told a doctor would sign off my prescription today and to come in and collect it after 4pm today. I travelled to the surgery and arrived at 16:30 today only to be told my prescription was not there. The lady at the desk said she needed to wait for a doctor to sign it off and asked me to sit and wait. I waited for another 20 minutes, only to then be told that my prescription could not be done at all today after all as the doctor required had already gone home. I explained that I had come in specifically because I was told I could collect it today, added to which I could not come in tomorrow but this was met with rude indifference with the receptionist telling me to just come back on Friday. Apparently it's completely fine to waste people's time and I'm expected to drop plans in order to make a second journey to the surgery because of their poor organisation and communication. A really rotten experience and not the first time I've felt mistreated by their reception staff and sometimes GPs too. A poor service.
