l have just been discharged from Malvern Ward at Bushey Fields, and can only speak of my own experience. l have been there for 6 weeks, following a severe time of depression. From the very first day, when l arrived feeling confused and distressed, the staff were kind, supportive, professional, and understanding. l am lucky enough to have improved within a short time, but have been carefully monitored on new medication, then given a phased return until now, when l am discharged from the unit, but it was made clear to me that the help is still there if needed, and l have no reason to doubt that. A blood test there showed l have an underactive thyroid, which can worsen anxiety, and this helped me to understand what had happened. l had two amazing doctors, who were both extremely kind, but also who took the time to explain everything clearly. l also had the benefit of other professionals, helping me through my time there, with the same care and understanding. This same care was given to every single patient there, regardless of the level of their illness.
l am happy to be home, but reassured by the follow up care which is nothing short of excellent as far as l am concerned, and l feel so very grateful for everything they did, and continue to do for me. Thank you to everyone there x
"So very grateful"
