"Concerned about Mount Gould disabled parking"

About: Livewell South West Sentinel Healthcare Southwest Community Interest Company

(as a volunteer/advocate),

I am a voluntary driver, and often bring people to Mount Gould. When I bring a disabled person to the clinic I have to drop them at the door, which feels unsafe as I have to leave them and go to park. I feel the downstairs signage could be better – as it’s not clear where to go when you come for the first time – particularly for the older people I bring.

However, all the people I bring seem impressed with the care at Mount Gould, and having the mobility shop on site seems useful information for people.

Thank you for your comments regarding this issue. Plymouth Community Healthcare has two areas for disabled access. The first is the drop off point outside the main entrance where you can park your car to bring a person into the building. We do ask that cars are moved to the car park, after the person is safely inside. We have a waiting area with reception staff available for waiting individuals. We also have disabled access through the back of the building were individuals can park and get through the building safely without having to be separated.

There are a number of signs in the car park indicating the way into the Local Care Centre. The whole building is compliant with the Disability Discrimination Act to try to ensure that there are no problems no matter which entrance you use.

However, Plymouth Community Healthcare would welcome any further suggestions as to how we can make our buildings more accessible. So please feel free to either to drop in any comments to the local care centre, or call us with any other queries on 01752 434700.
