checked in with the receptionist at 8.15pm on a Weekday night
Mum was feeling faint and hot and clammy, so told the receptionist, Nurse Triage then came out and triaged my mum and told us to wait back in the waiting room
12 Midnight - still not been seen
sign up in the receptionist window saying 5 hour wait. Approached receptionist and asked how much longer do you think we will be waiting. They couldn't say but said it will be longer than 5 hours - so probably around 2am
my mum was falling asleep in the waiting room (she is in her late 80s) and felt she could not wait any longer , so we left
the waiting room was full of people waiting to be seen, patients screaming in agony for hours, not being seen to
I didn't feel like the nursing staff seemed bothered about waiting time, certainly not run off their feet like you see in "24 Hours in A&E", I thought they were working very slowly, many patients had blood tests done after waiting hours, then were told to sit back in the waiting room for their results, and were still there 4 hours later
also patients who had been brought in by ambulance on trolleys in the corridor
absolute disgrace !
"She could not wait any longer, so we left"
