I first went for surgery of a full extraction of my teeth in December 2018 and they wasnt aware that I was a special care patient who suffers from high anxiety issues. This time things couldn't have more different as right from the start I could tell they understood my situation. I was greeted by the staff in a friendly manner and was accompanied by my girlfriend. When I was taken to the recovery room I was apprehensive but was made to feel comfortable and given a drink of juice with ketamine in it to relax me to prepare me for surgery. Within minutes I was out cold and I cant remember anything that followed until I woke up and saw my girlfriend next to me again in the recovery room. The staff member who gave me the drink was wonderful and when I woke up I had a panic attack as I didnt know where I was but she reassured and comforted me and went to collect my girlfriend. I cant remember much after that as I was clearly spaced out still but I got home safely. The staff were amazing with me and the whole process was so easy compared to first time round and they are a credit to the NHS.
