I had surgery at the QMH day surgery unit.
I only waited 6 weeks from it being decided I needed surgery to getting surgery- very quick. I was on the afternoon list and was far down the list and was beginning to get bored which made me more nervous. Everyone tried to get the TV to work past BBC 1 and 2 to distract me but technology won. It was the thought that counted though!!! The care I received from consultant Poulle and registrar Maeve was incredible, so supportive, listened to me, went over everything and answered all my questions. Every member of the nursing team were fantastic everyone had a smile and said hello. Particular thanks go to Fiona, Helen and Karen. They are an asset to the team and helped me and my mum so much. Kept my mum updated too. I felt like I was in safe hands. The whole team from admission to discharge the next day made my "unbearable birthday bearable". P.s. is there a small farm animal picture scene on the ceiling of the anaesthetic room not sure if I was hallucinating or not...
