"A&E nurse poor attitude"

About: Heartlands Hospital / Accident and emergency

(as the patient),

I was shouted for triage for my foot. Upon entering the nurse had a can of deodorant in their hand. I am highly allergic and suffer with anaphylaxis. I told the nurse I cant stay if they sprayed it but they just laughed and sprayed anyhow.

I swiftly left the room and told the nurse again I could go into anaphylaxis. They never once apologised. I was disgusted this could have been seriously life threatening. The receptionist tried to play it down by saying they thought I was joking. Absolutely disgraceful and unprofessional - will not go here by choice in future.

Dear Cslevin

I am very sorry to learn of your experience whilst being triaged in A&E at Heartlands Hospital and the impression that it has left.

If you would be willing to provide further details, we can then advise the management team of your experience so they can make any necessary improvements, you can contact a member of the Patient Relations Team on 0121 424 0808 or you can email your concerns to uhb-tr.Complaints-ConcernsandCompliments@nhs.net who can then take the necessary action.

Kind regards

Patient Experience Team
