"missing letter and ignored emails"

About: North Middlesex Hospital / Ophthalmology

I have been advised by the eye clinic’s secretary at North Middlesex Hospital to send a letter request by email.

This is the third time myself and my GP are requesting a follow up letter from my last eye appointment on 30 April 2019 at the North Middlesex Hospital.

I have spoken to the secretary today and she told me the letters have been sent out, but we have not received them, how are they getting lost in the post?

I have asked my doctor to refer me to another hospital, however without the letter following my last appointment. I need regular checks for my condition and I am concerned about not being able to arrange appointments.

Thank you for taking the time to provide the comments below.

In the first instance, please accept our apologies for the inconvenience the delayed receipt of your letter following your appointment in April. The Ophthalmology service was only notified in the last week that there have been problems in dispatching patient letters via our electronic patient administration system. This was reportedly due to technical issues which are being looked into as a matter of urgency.

As an interim solution, they have implemented a local solution which involves manually printing and posting letters out to patients whilst the issues are being addressed.

The department is working closely with the provider to resolve this issue as quickly as possible. I can confirm that on receipt of your request on the 3rd June 2019, the letters have been sent out to you and your GP. Please do contact the ophthalmology department if you have not received the letters.
