"Alder Hey Chronic Pain Clinic"

About: Alder Hey Hospital

(as a service user),

Was referred to Alder hey chronic pain clinic, Neurosurgeon put request as urgent. However the triaging clinician (a Consultant For Chronic Pain) put it as a routine appointment. So we should be seen within the NHS 18 Week Wait time (RTT ).

Was told by the a secretary that the current wait time for a appointment was around 10-11 months which is around 40+ weeks.

Was shocked to hear this to referred this to the PALS team who raised a formal complaint which was investigate by the Anaesthetics and Chronic pain team.

When I spoke to someone from this team i was shocked to hear that they were constantly not meeting the NHS's aim for 95% > patients to be seen within 18 weeks.

I was informed that none of their patients were seen within 18 weeks.

After complaining final got appointment around 20/21 weeks after referral.
