"The day went well other than the parking penalty ticket"

About: Victoria Hospital / Radiology

(as the patient),

This week I attended at my GP's surgery re the problems that I have been having with my left knee and leg since February. I saw a locum GP who was very helpful and organised an appointment to see a DVT nurse within Ward 6 of the Victoria Hospital in Kirkcaldy the next day.

I duly attended at the hospital on the specified time / date and met the DVT nurse, Stephanie. She carried out an examination of both of my legs and proceeded to take some samples of blood from my right arm. I was asked to return within one hour which I did and I was advised that there had been a slight issue with my blood sample and that I was to undergo an ultrasound scan to rule out any DVT problems. An appointment was arranged by Stephanie in order that I could be seen by the radiology department later that same day. I duly attended and received my scan which proved that I do not have a DVT problem. Naturally, I was very pleased to hear this news and after receiving another update from Stephanie I then returned to my own motor car in order to travel home.

When I arrived at the hospital for my initial 10. 00 am appointment I had to park on the street as the visitor car parks were completely full. Due to the fact that I had been in the hospital for a few hours getting all my tests and scan carried out I received a gift from the Fife Council in the form of a parking penalty ticket to the value of £30. 00 for parking for too long a period on a public street adjacent to the hospital visitors car park. I felt a bit outraged about the ticket but I do have a knackered left knee and I felt I had to park as close as possible to the hospital so that I could attend my appointment making use of my walking stick. The weather was heavy rain when I turned up. I have said before on this website that the visitor car parks are not large enough to house all the vehicles that belong to the visitors / out patients/ patients who are required to attend the Victoria Hospital on a daily basis. I note that there are a number of visitors who are parking incorrectly within these car parks e. g. double parking or parking up on kerb stones. To keep the peace I have paid the parking penalty ticket. The day went well other than receiving the parking penalty ticket.
