Having had a previous hip replacement under conventional methods, I was selected, for my other hip replacement using the Copenhagen method.
This method allows the patient, provided they are successful on their various assessments post theatre, to return home the same day of their operation.
On the day of my operation everything was explained, again, about the upcoming procedures.
I walked to theatre at 8.30 am whereby I was sedated for my operation.
At 10 am I awoke in the ward whereby I was attended to by fantastic nursing care, after a well deserved tea and toast I underwent various assessments. I had to get in and out of the bed unaided and be able to walk using sticks. The last test being able to walk up and down stairs. Having completed these and medical assessments I was in my own home at 8 pm the same day.
All the medical and nursing staff at Victoria Hospital Kirkcaldy deserve great credit in ensuring that my journey was as smooth as possible, I am truly indebted to you all πππ
