"A&E Visit"

About: Pilgrim Hospital

I attended the A&E department at pilgrim on the evening of 14/05 after a freak accident with passenger side window of car. Upon arriving via ambulance I was straight away taken to a cubicle.

I was seen by a consultant within 5 minutes. After another 5 minutes of waiting I was seen by a surgeon who knew straight away what to do. Within 30 minutes I was taken to a clean treatment room and the mission of stitching me together again began. Although my injury took longer than first thought to sort out the surgeon stayed upbeat and positive the whole time. The nurse who was helping him was also amazing. I was informed all the way through my treatment what was going to happen and any choices I had. The only thing I didn't have choice in was his decision on staples without anesthetic rather than the stery strips on one leg. But they were done before I could complain so I didn't mind. I apologise for such an awkward laceration but thank you for everything you did for me :)

Thank you for these lovely comments, which I am pleased to have been able to share with the A&E team at Pilgrim Hospital.

The team in A&E work really hard, often in very difficult circumstances, to ensure our patients are treated with compassion and understanding. Such positive feedback is a great morale booster and will be fully appreciated by them all.

Your freak accident with a car window sounds very painful and I hope that your injury is healing well despite the issues you had relating to the use of staples.

Regards

Sharon
