"Poor communication"

About: Royal Stoke University Hospital / Maternity care

(as the patient),

I attended the mau department and was told I would be seen around 4-5 hours; it wasn’t explained that they were very short staffed and this may take longer. However what was really disheartening was the midwifes approach to patients and lack   of communication prior to and during examination there was very little communication which as I felt was very unprofessional but also lacked patient focus. In addition to this I was given a chair to sit on overnight despite there being beds that had become available. being pregnant and being there for nearly 10 hours this was not patient focused or a nice experience at all. I had attended out of borough due to an emergency and am really glad I am not registered in this area as I would really not be looking forward to giving birth here.
