"Unsuccessful cardioversion"

About: William Harvey Hospital (Ashford) / Cardiology

If you are unfortunate enough to have a cardioversion at this hospital, please bear in mind that if it does not work and you go back into atrial fibrillation, you will spend months phoning the cardiology department.

Your calls will rarely be answered, nor will any answerphone messages you leave.

My cardioversion failed on 13th December 2018, and I waited from then till the end of April 2019 to find out what would happen next. I was diagnosed originally with heart failure but this has never been followed up. I have given up waiting and am now under a different hospital.

My complaints to the consultant, PALS and the Trust itself have not been answered.

I must add that the actual cardioversion unit led was excellent.

It is the aftercare that has failed me badly.

Thank you for contacting us Gillian, and we are sorry that you were unable to contact anyone.

We would suggest that if you are still experiencing problems to contact PALS on 01227 783145 or via email ekh-tr.PALS@nhs.net or through our website www.ekhuft.nhs.uk and choose the relevant "C" to fill in an online form that is then sent to us.

PALS will be happy to help with your concerns.
