"Treatment for severe diverticulitis at Tameside General Hospital"

I visited A&E in Christmas of 2010 with very unpleasant abdominal pain, nausea, fever, diarrhoea, constipation etc and was admitted to the surgical ward at the end of Dec.

I had a Ultrasound on NYE (for which the Radiographer stayed beyond his shift finish) and the diagnosis was confirmed. I had a small/large bowel resection/appendicectomy in the new year.

The aftercare I received was first class and all the medical staff were simply brilliant and i was humbled to tears.

You obviously had a very difficult time at Christmas 2010 and I hope you are now very much better.

I was so pleased to read that you were happy with the care in the Surgical Unit and Radiology department and that staff “went the extra mile” for you. I will make sure that the nurses, doctors and radiographers involved in your care are made aware of your comments.

Please do Mr Dylak. I had visited my GP numerous times about my complaint in the 18 months before my admittance. Each and every time they diagnosed IBS.

I lost my appetite and when i lose my appetite, i know something is wrong, as i have a very good appetite. I lost two stones. That is just a bit of advice to people who are thinking "that is not right for me", visit your GP.

I was left with a Ileostomy after my Bowel resection and i was glad to have had a reversal in Oct of last year, again the care was first class. I am expecting the same next month when i am hopefully due to have my incisional Hernia repaired, under the care of Mr KB Mohammad.

It is all too easy for people to criticise when they hear bad stories. Some of the nurses stayed behind beyond their shift, unpaid, all for the benefit of their patients and i am sure i will be thanking them again soon. They are all truly worth their weight in gold.
