About: Grantham & District Hospital / X-ray and Scans

(as the patient),

I had a routine X-ray at Grantham a couple of weeks ago.

The procedure was fine, and waiting time not too bad. The staff were also very friendly and professional, checking all my details were correct on the system.

My only query is that I have not been offered a chance to give feedback through the Friends and Family Test. Should I have been given some way of completing the survey?

Hi Lincs Scouser

Thanks for sharing your story following your recent trip to the X-ray department which I have shared with the team.

As a Trust, the Friends and Family Test survey is undertaken in line with NHS England's mandated services...inpatients, day case, general outpatients, emergency departments and maternity services so radiology departments unfortunately are not included at the current time.

We do have many more ways for patients to tell us about their experiences, with Care Opinion being one of them.

Dear Sharon,

I have been to a several hospitals in the past few years, and all of them have sent me a Friends and Family Test survey after having an X-ray or, in one case, an MRI scan. Most of the surveys said they were asking about my experience of their outpatients service.

I have had a look on Google, and found some FAQs on the NHS England website, https://www.england.nhs.uk/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/fft-imp-guid-faqs-oct15.pdf.

There is a FAQ about outpatients (page 22) which says ‘The outpatients FFT should include all services that are delivered within in an outpatient department, in all of the general and acute specialties relating to the provider. This should include (but not be limited to): appointments for a consultation, investigation, surgical procedure, test, assessment, diagnosis, treatment, care’.

Are you sure you are reading the rules properly?
