This operation followed a very reassuring and encouraging experience in the gynaecology department and day surgery just over a month ago (see previous review) Further surgery was deemed necessary and so I was admitted on April 16th 2019 for the full hysterectomy. From the moment I arrived with my husband and God daughter we were put at ease. I can honestly say every member of staff we met was smiling, comforting and professional. Although the staff were unaware, My husband suffers with panic attacks so it was really important for us both to feel confident . We were shown to a room where we waited and everyone came to us! Nurses, anaesthetist and Consultant. I was then escorted to theatre by a lovely lady who chatted and stayed with me until it was time to be wheeled into the pre op room and the Anaesthetist. Again I was put at ease as he and another lady chatted to me. When I awoke I was on the Ward. The excellent care continued through the night as I was constantly monitored. However I do have to give a really special mention to the day staff. The nurse and Health assistant came round with beaming smiles and introduced themselves and that smile and caring attitude continued for the whole time I was there until I was discharged later in the day . They encouraged me gently to move and even to shower !
I observed the many times they looked into the bay to check on all of their patients and their wonderful care extended to everyone. I want to say a huge 'Thank You' to all involved .
