"a one off bad experience"

About: Norfolk & Norwich University Hospital

What I liked

Receptionists were very helpful

What could be improved

Communication between Doctor and Nurse. Nurse wanted to fit a tube in my arm for meds at the same time as taking my blood, Doctor had already told me I didn't need meds and was just going to have my blood tested.

Nurse did not wear gloves. When telling doctor that I was concerned that nurse didn't wear gloves I got told "why didn't you ask him at the time". I said I didn't feel comfortable asking this and could she please report what we had said. She replied "I am a doctor I am not responsible for the nurses, I am not their boss."

She then went and told the nurse who came in and confronted me about my comment saying to me "iI hear you have a problem with me not wearing gloves, the gloves are to protect me, not you". I said that I would have felt more comfortable if he had have worn gloves.

Went to reception to ask who I complain to with the way I was treated. Receptionist found a room for me to meet with the head of the nursing staff. To my surprise, the doctor who said she had nothing to do with the nurses walked in to hear my complaint.

She then did not know how to deal with the complaint, went to get someone else, was left waiting in the room for over 20 mins so I left.

Anything else?

This is a one off problem I have had with the hospital, usually the Norfolk and Norwich is fantastic, I was very shocked at this experience.
