"Treatment of a friend."

About: Mersey Care NHS Foundation Trust / Inpatient mental health care

(as a friend),

I've got a friend who is in the Broadoak Unit at Broadgreen who I feel is being treated badly.

There was a fire in there a couple of weeks ago, they moved everyone into the dining room which felt dangerous particularly, if the fire had spread to the kitchen or something.

I feel that the staff speak down to them. They just want to be treated like normal people instead of the way the staff are treating them there.

They've got to wait hours for a doctor to come because they haven't got a doctor. But they've got a police there round the clock. A doctor is more important.

Then when a patient needs to go to the hospital, they are not getting the discharge papers. And there's never enough staff if they need to go to hospital. There needs to be enough staff that someone can deal with situations like this.

I just don't think its fair on them to be honest. They are in there for a reason -some staff dont seem to care. They won't put a doctor in the hospital because of the cost, but they can pay for a police.
