"Nursing care good but not multiple moves"

I was admitted on a Saturday from A+E with abdominal pain due to Gall Stones. I was addmitted to the assessment unit late at night and transfered to short stay ward early the next morning.

There was a delay in getting analgesia due to both doctor going on break at the same time and not prescribing analgesia before they left. I remained on short stay until monday where i was due to go for an MRI scan. I was moved late afternoon to ward 6. I didn't get my MRI unsure of reason why not.

Tuesday I remained on ward 6 and eventually got my MRI scan. When returning from my scan the porter refused to take me to ward 6 saying 'on his sheet i was on short stay' despite being told I had been move he insisted on taking me back to short stay! On my return to ward 6 I was allowed to eat, after not eating due to pain related to gall stones, I was given sausage and chips which i could not eat.

I was moved again on Wednesday back to short stay ward where i was told i would remain until i had my procedure on Friday. Just after visiting on the Wednesday was told I would moving to B11 surgical ward that day. When i arrived on B11 i was told this would be my final move and i would remain on B11 until my discharge.

Thursday again just after visiting i was told i was to be moved again to B32 another surgical ward. I moved that afternoon and remained on this ward until my discharge home on the Saturday.

During whole admission i was offered two hot meals, one i could not eat as it was high fat and i was suffering gall stones and second later i didn't like and when i told staff this I was asked did i have someone who could bring something in for me! Due to my multiple moves i never once got offered the meal i picked from the menu.

I felt lost in the system, blood tests were not conducted despite me asking staff why my bloods were not being check when i was clearly jaudiced and told medical staff did not wish my blood checked. When i did have bloods taken no one chased the result and this in turn I believe affected my care as I didn't have a coag screen result. It it was debated if i could go for my ERCP and as a result I had two doctorsw desperately try to obtain a sample directly before my procedure.

I nearly missed my MRI scan because the staff on the ward missed my slot and radiology thought i was still on short stay.

My visitor were unable to find me and when they did found that visiting time was nearly finished as each ward had different visiting times.

On the whole i feel the nursing care was good but the multiple moves, five in the space of seven day, impacted on my care and my experience as a patient
