"Bereavement Nightmare"

About: Goodrest Croft Surgery

A member of our family died over a bank holiday weekend. We went to the doctors at the first available opportunity to report the death. The receptionist was extremely nice and helpful, can not overstate how great she was to deal with. The problem came later. We had been told we'd receive a call during the afternoon to let us know whether our family member had to go to the coroner or not. That was again confirmed later on in the morning as we had to go back to the doctors to get signed off from work for bereavement leave. A doctor called me at 5:30PM on the evening, and said something along the lines of, "I'm sorry I didn't see the message stating why I had to call you." This doctor then told me what was going to happen to our family member, but I queried something as I had been told something different by the undertakers. I told her it could be that I had misunderstood process, and she told me it could be that "the laws had been changed and she had not been informed." She said she would call the Registrar in the morning and and call me back. So, she a) made the call so late in the day we had to spend the night worried sick. b) made the call without knowing what she was talking about. c) she NEVER CALLED ME BACK in the morning. I called the coroner and the coroner told me that the doctor had not even sent over the paperwork yet, so the post-mortem process could not be started. The service provided by this doctor specifically was appalling and I will NEVER deal with her for anything in the future.
