"With kindest regards from a very fortunate patient"

About: Queen Elizabeth University Hospital Glasgow / Neurosurgery (Ward 64 – 66)

(as the patient),

I was recently was an in patient for a number of days in Ward 64 and felt it only fitting that I put in writing regarding my stay, as a box of chocolates and a thank you card does not tell the full story.

From the moment I was transferred from Wishaw General Hospital and met by a truly wonderful staff nurse Asha  who treated with me with respect, dignity and compassion whilst settling me into the ward. This theme continued with each and every practitioner I came into contact with from the physios, Health Care Assistants and to Jean the catering lady. Staff nurse Shalana helped me in so many ways and nothing was ever too much trouble. Her commitment to care shone throw when she returned the following day sharing that she had done some research at home regarding my condition for when I am out an about.

The role of both the spinal nurse specialist and the pain nurse specialist was exceptional during my care. With Harriett containing my emotions on several occasions and ensuring that everything was fully coordinated between departments before discharge.

There is a clear dedicated TEAM ethos throughout Room 8, which can only be created and sustained from excellent leadership created by Lynsay.

With kindest regards from a very fortunate patient who’s recovery was made so much easier by the professionalism and care delivered by all.
