"Our first birth was a delightful experience..."

About: Basildon University Hospital / Maternity

My husband and I are grateful to everyone at Basildon Hospital.Everyone we dealt with in Maternity and neonatal care came across as professional, caring, accommodating, understanding, kind, thoughtful and genuinely interested in our positive birth experience. Right from the dinner lady to the midwives, doctors, nurses and everyone we came in contact with made us feel comfortable. I had my first child a lovely baby boy in April 2019 and will pray for everyone we came in contact with at Basildon hospital Maternity and neonatal natal A&E. Thanks and all the vest to you all. Once again we were treated so kindly that these fond memories will remain with us forever.

Firstly may we offer you and your husband our congratulations on the recent birth of your little boy.

We are pleased that your recent experience of care in the maternity unit at Basildon and Thurrock University Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust was a good one and have forwarded your kind words to the senior team to share with staff in the unit.

Please remember that any woman who has given birth at Basildon University Hospital, no matter how long ago, is able to self-refer to our ‘birth afterthoughts service’. Mums can contact the service to talk through their birth experience, ask general questions, or try to piece together those hazy hours spent in labour that seem impossible to recall. Contact this service by calling ext 3458 or emailing birthafterthoughts@btuh.nhs.uk.

Thank you once again for your kind words.
