"Great therapeutic activity work on Sovereign ward"

About: Atherleigh Park

(as a service user),

I've been a member of the Northwest Boroughs Healthcare Trust's Involvement Scheme as a volunteer for 9 years and I recently had a very positive experience of joining one of the Patient activities on Sovereign ward at Atherleigh Park

I've been aware for a long time how therapeutically beneficial the weekly programme of activities is to Inpatients' wellbeing and recovery and I was privileged to be included recently in one the Friday morning breakfast club in the impressive activities kitchen with the highly experienced Activities Co-Ordinator Sue and her colleague Yolanda... I was made to feel very welcome, and it was a very convivial time :  I saw first hand how much the three Patients that morning were enjoying it and benefitting from it, including enhancing practical home-skills, and it was a very heart-warming experience.

In all my 9 years' involvement with the Trust's wards, this Friday morning breakfast club activity genuinely goes down as the 'best ever' heart-warming experience that I've had on a ward and I'm wanting to let others know how impressive & valuable I think Sovereign ward's patient-orientated programme of therapeutic activity is.

A credit to Sue & Yolanda, and all concerned... and it's very apparent that the Patients are in very caring & compassionate hands.
