"Prostate surgery"

About: Forth Valley Royal Hospital / Urology

(as the patient),

I found that there was a problem with automatic lights in the toilets within the changing room. When you have prostrate problems it can take some time to start a urine flow but I found that by the time I started to pee the lights had switched off. I was left standing holding my penis in the dark whilst trying to wave the other arm in the dark and still being unable to switch on the lights. A similar lighting system on the ward was far better and the lights did not go off through lack of movement.

I would also like to thank Ella for taking care of me during my stay on the ward. What a tremendous person with a great personality. Nothing was ever too much bother for Ella. I will always remember her smiley face and attention to detail. She is a great asset to the hospital.

Thank you for you kind words in relation to your stay in the ward within FVRH and I will pass on your comments to the staff within the ward particularly to Ella.

I am sorry to hear about your experience with the lights in the changing rooms and will take this up with Serco to ask that the timer be extended as it is a stressful time going to theatre without the added stress of the light turning off when you were in the toilet.

I hope you are now recovering well from your operation.
