"Thanks to all who cared for my husband"

About: Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Cardiology Royal Cornwall Hospital (Treliske) / Emergency Department

(as a relative),

One morning at the beginning of April my husband complained of breathlessness and a pain in his arm I rang 999 and quite quickly first response arrived followed by a paramedic. Both quickly examined my husband reassured us by their calm manner and requested an ambulance in which we were taken to Treliske Hospital. On arrival my husband was seen by a Doctor and a Nurse then we had to wait in a corridor for a time before he saw another Doctor back to the corridor then transferred to a bay where more tests were performed. Late evening he was transferred to a Emergency ward and shortly after to Roskear Ward where he spent two days before transferring to the Cardiac Investigative Unit for three days during which at all times received excellent care from all staff.

We cannot thank all of the many people who cared for him enough.

Thank you all.

Dear 'kernow14'

Thank you for the post regarding your husbands admission to RCHT. I am the Clinical Matron for Emergency Care and so cover both the Emergency Department and the Emergency Admissions ward AMU.

I would like to apologise that your husband had to wait in the corridor initially until a cubicle became available. There has been considerable pressure on the hospital recently, with a high number of patients attending ED. This impacted on our ability to admit and transfer patients to wards in a timely manner. I am disappointed that this happened and that your husband had to experience this.

I am delighted however that you describe the care he received throughout his stay as excellent as this ultimately what we aspire to achieve for all our patients.

I wish your husband a speedy recovery

Kind Regards

Jane
