"Hernia mesh complications"

About: West Middlesex University Hospital / General surgery

(as the patient),

In late 2018 I under went surgery for a groin hernia repair. I was told the recovery period would be six to eight weeks. Before the operation I was told there was a chance of complications, but I was never offered an alternative.

Within a couple of days of surgery I felt something was not right, I was in a great deal of discomfort and pain which was more intense than the hernia pain. I was told this was just part of the healing process. After a month of constant pain and discomfort which also included pins and needles if I sit for more than ten minutes my doctor prescribed Pregabalin for never damage.

It's now six months of not working and constant pain and all the hospital say it's just a complication associated with the mesh and the pain will get better, but in the meantime stop limping and take paracetamol. I now see from a very short internet search that complications are more common than suggested. I have now made a complaint about my treatment with the hospital concerned as my doctor has no idea on how to treat me and the hospital have released me back into GP care.
