I had a Quadruple bypass operation last year following my second heart attack a month before. My operation was carried out at the Jubilee hospital and it seemed to be successful until I returned home and around a week later I started experiencing severe pain. I had been discharged from the hospital with paracetamol which did nothing for the pain, so I went to my GP who prescribed me Co-Codamol 30/500 which again did nothing and then Tramadol which had no affect also. Eventually, and with much reluctance, my GP prescribed me Shortec 5mg (Morphine) which seemed to help for a bit but then stopped working and the pain was getting worse. I have been to A&E on a few occasions and they didn't seem interested so I went back to GP and I am now taking Longtec 10mg 1 in the morning and 1 at night as well as shortec in between.
During this whole experience I feel that no one actually believes my level of pain and obviously thinks I am making this up The last time I went to my GP they said that they had never heard of this type of pain following this operation which made me feel very angry as they clearly do not understand or believe me.
I have been referred to the pain management clinic at Crosshouse Hospital but that might take another 6 weeks and I am at the end of my tether with this as it is affecting everything in my life including my relationship with my husband.
I am not part of the opiate crisis, I just want someone to believe my pain and get it under control so I get get on with my life.
